Hopper Receives GSSC's 2019 Navigator Award


Tony Hopper, project manager for the AIDT Maritime Training Center in Mobile was the recipient of GSSC's 2019 Navigator Award. Announced at GSSC's recent Annual Conference in Pensacola, FL, the purpose of the award is to recognize individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership or made other significant contributions to the development of the maritime workforce.

GSSC president, Jeff Allman, said of this year's recipient, "We at GSSC are thankful for Tony's contributions preparing individuals for career opportunities in the shipbuilding industry. His service to others is an inspiration to all of us." Former GSSC president, Byron Dunn, had this to say about Tony, "Tony has been a long-time champion of and cheerleader for GSSC and has helped forge the workforce development methodologies in our region and industry through dedicated and innovative work. He has listened to the voice of our shipbuilders and ship repair yards and led the way to provide highly qualified entry-level workers."

GSSC's Navigator Award has become a tradition and is awarded annually in conjunction with GSSC's Annual Conference.
